Last year Anna of Taito-Verkaranta, Tampere, joined Nanna in organizing crafts- and landart-activities in the countryside at Lake Näsijärvi, north of Tampere. The materials used were fiber and clay, and everything offered in Finland's beautiful nature. It was great fun. Two-way learning took place. As visitors we even had rart educators...
This year, as a newly accepted Modus ry-member, Nanna feels honored to again be able to take part in the exciting culture- and art-event "Pirkanmaan taidesuunnistus" that is organized for the 20th time in her birthplace Tampere. The registered association Modus safeguards and promotes artists and industrial designers in and around Tampere. "Pirkanmaan taidesuunnistus" is Kaisa Iivonen's brain child. She is a "culture producer" and also chairwoman of Modus ry.
The immensily successful concept "Pirkanmaan taidesuunnistus" enables artists, craft-practioners, galleries, learning-institutions, libraries, registered associations and active community members in the region Pirkanmaa to jointly open their venues on two April days. Visitors are encouraged to visit many locations and to take part in a variety of workshops. Lectures and talks are given and in general active participation is encouraged in a multitude of cultural formats. In southern Finland spring awakens in April. People are out exploring...
Sara Lundén visited Nanna in Stuttgart in November 2023. Her talk on historical Finnish folk costume woven ribbons, a research topic of hers, was well-received and amazed at in southern Germany. Now in April Nanna in turn is invited by Sara to present her art and crafts-projects in Kangasala, where Sara lives. Please come to "Location 7." on the Kangasala-list of the this year's "Pirkanmaan taidesuunnistus". The street-address is Mustoontie 174.
On Day One - Saturday 20. April - the opening hours are 11am to 5pm. Sara is the hostess in her wooden villa; Nanna is her guest. On Sunday 21. April the opening hours are also 11am to 5 pm; solely Sara offers her program to all visitors. A warm welcome to everyone to visit Kangasala!
