The Finnish Craft and Design Fair "Kädentaidot messu" annually takes place in November in Tampere, Finland. It has grown to become Europe's largest crafts event and it attracted almost 42.000 visitors to acquint themselves with the activities and programs of over 700 exhibitors in 2023. This year's motto is Be boldly yourself!

The 3-day crafts and design event cherishes Finnish hand skills and artisan know-how. Professionals and hobbyists mix and mingle bringing much needed light and joy in the middle of the November grey.

Nanna first came in contact with Modus ry at this Tampere fair in 2022. This year she was accepted as member of Modus ry Pirkanmaa design, arts and crafts association (Pirkanmaan muotoilu- ja taideteollisuusyhdistys Modus ry), an active Erasmus+ accredited organization.

At the Modus stand in the big hall with the main stage, Nanna is invited to run "Communal Stitching Workshops" on both Friday (12-14 and 15-17 o'clock) and Saturday (12-14 o'clock). Everyone is warmy welcome to take part in the fun joint textile project. No prior knowledge is needed. The stitching has a calming effect on most people. You can sit quietly to yourself and work on leaving your own marks on the cloth. You stitch on a common piece of fabric that is draped on the table. Maybe you wish to challenge your friends to a round of stitching? Nanna shares fun stories of the existing "yarn-markings" in her own communal table cloth. Some of the tales are very touching. Let your creativity be your guide. The sky ist the limit.

All material, e.g. coloful threads in various thicknesses, yarns, beads, buttons and ribbons are available for the project. Also motive-ideas, though Nanna prefers everyone's imagination to work the best. Let us learn from and with each other and share thoughts during a relaxing and fun textile activity. Everyone stitches in their own pace. It is all about the process and not about results...
